Projects are under constant pressure to respond rapidly to change, meet customers changing needs and maximise the utilization of resources. Agile SPACE focuses on adaptability to changing situations and project requirements. Our agile SPACE is ideal for developing innovative products or services and when close customer relations are crucial for the success of the project. It also adds high value for transformative change management programmes as well as strategy implementation.
We offer trainings in the agile SPACE model. Our customised training will help you learn techniques to manage projects that are focused on addressing change and changing customer needs. Sign up for a public workshop or in-house session.
S Specify Expectations
Specifying expectations involves, clarifying the project’s purpose, context, scope, participation and initial resource requirements. During this phase the project team engages in formulating a high level vision that capturesproduct or service requirements. The internal and external environment is analysed to get first hand understanding about potential blind spots that need to addressed. Stakeholders and their expectations are identified and rough estimates of resource requirements are developed.
P Plan the Project
Plan the Project involves clarifying agile specific roles, developing project results, e.g. product or service features by using User-Stories, determining dependencies, slicing the project into major phases and analysing potential problems to the project implementation. During this phase, the team is working directly with the project’s “Customer”. The “Process Facilitator” is tasked with coordinating, coaching and providing process leadership. The cross-functional project team is set up to deliver the project, e.g. design, build and test products or services.
The Action Phase focusses on delivering priority work packages. Key agile-specific processes and tools support facilitating the teamwork, providing the basis for effective sprint planning, developing and achieving the sprint goals. There are a few monitoring mechanisms used during this phase to ensure that the project team is in line with project priorities, e.g. regular checks on progress, information dissemination to the stakeholders (internal and external), adjustment of the plan to accommodate changes.
C Close and Evaluate
The Closing Phase is about evaluating the project’s success, processing and sharing lessons learnt and incorporating insights into the planning of projects in the future. The Closing Phase involves receiving feedback, evaluating results and documenting lessons learnt.
E Empower the Team
One of the most important assets of our agile SPACE methodology is the high emphasis on self-organising teams, that are empowered to act. Most of project management methodologies do not focus enough on establishing a team culture, where internal communication and facilitated team discussions can deliver results effectively. Agile SPACE focuses on creating a work environment where the teams flourish and achieve the project’s objectives. Empowering team happens throughout all phases of the project.
